I think they may well be too late, unless there is a space unfilled in the 2nd Division.

WE did extend the entry deadline until 19th Jan, but you do have to draw the line somewhere. That date was set as really the latest to enable Ian Campbell to draw up the fixtures and have them ready for issue at the Feb meeting. Changing them now would really entail a lot of extra work, unless there was a team short in the 2nd Division, in which case the new team could be inserted relatively painlessly.

My understanding was that both 1st & 2nd Divisions were full, but send me the E-mail address and I'll check with Ian if a space is still available.

Yeah, change bye to Ilford and that's sorted. And forget about all the rubbish about earning your place, they can fix the error the committee made, we fill the empty space and should they be crap, will just get relegated.

It's simple, logical and sensible.

It's time the committee took this problem by the horns!

Oh and it won't take 5 minutes to re-do the fixtures replacing by with Ilford Pool, as I can be sure the books won't be ready until June Smile Smile

I agree doctor the more teams the
better it's boring playing the same old
teams all the time. I would let any team
in it's more money for the league and for
all the venues!

Just one small problem with your idea there Doc, suppose by some miracle the committee decide to allow the team straight into the premier, and the new teams first season is spent getting their collective butts kicked every week in the prem. They all then get the prick, lose heart and don't bother to enter next season. . .

Seeing as all the superstars are now in their respective stables, I can't see how there can be a team of players, capable of living in the prem having not been seen by anyone on this site as yet.

I do think however, that the league should be welcoming new teams with open arms, so allowances should be made for the new team to enter division 1 or 2. Surely Mr Campbell can sort out fixtures in a couple of weeks. . . .

I agree there Matt.

Firstly I think putting a completely new team of unknowns straight into the Premier would be an absolute disaster, both for the team concerned and the Premier Division. The team would almost certainly drop out once they realised they were getting bashed up every week, and then we'd have the disruption to the Division & player ranking points that a team dropping out causes.

Its worth mentioning that every year at around about the 11th hour its fairly common to get interest from new teams of apparantly keen as mustard players, but it often turns out that the reality is there's only 2 or 3 who are really interested and they think they can recruit enough others to form a team, and when push comes to shove they find that not to be as easy as they anticipated and the entry fails to materialise.

Incidentally I believe this to be the same venue that expressed interest a couple of seasons ago, with a keen as mustard Manager/Landlord/Owner or whatever. But when it came down to it, it emmerged that it was just a venue with a pool table, no players to form a team, but they wanted to enter the league anyway with the league providing them with a team of players.

It may well be a different scenario this time round with different people involved, but I believe Dutchy has explained to them how the league runs and passed on my E-mail address, but as of 6.00pm tonight I've had nothing from them.

Fair comment Alan and you may be right in saying that this team is pie in the sky. But, should they be genuine and put the money up in advance, like this week and they do drop out weeks later, BDPL will be richer. And just by a stroke of luck they do remain all season, it will fill the void.

So what if they got bashed up week in week out, that can only improve their game by playing better players. If you love the game, then it don’t matter what result you get to be honest! No one likes losing, but then for some it’s just a night out for a few drinks and a game of pool. They will always get a shot in 1st Division if they are that bad next season!

Any joy on the email?
